Allergic contact dermatitis or skin allergies can be caused by anything contacting the surface of the skin and producing a response. For example, nickel, rubber, latex, dyes, poison oak and poison ivy all can cause allergic contact rashes. The skin swells and blisters. Dr. De Stefano is skilled at discovering the cause of skin rashes, treating the symptoms and helping avoid recurrences.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes red, scaly patches on the skin. Psoriasis can affect any part of the skin, but certain areas such as the elbows, knees, fingernails, heels, face and scalp are the most commons sites. Patients with psoriasis experience skin itching, cracking, burning, stinging and sometimes bleeding. Although the cause of psoriasis is not known, research has shown it may be hereditary or genetic. Dr. De Stefano treats patients with psoriasis through topical creams and medications, oral drugs, ultraviolet light treatment or a combination of these.
